How Our Rugs Are Made By Women Artisans

At AzaLuna, every carpet carries the soul of Morocco. Our rugs are handwoven by Amazigh women in the Atlas Mountains, where weaving is more than craft – it is a language of heritage, strength, and beauty.

The process begins with natural wool, carefully washed and spun by hand. Women then use traditional looms, knotting each thread with patience and love. The patterns are not random – they are symbols that tell stories of protection, fertility, and connection with nature, passed down from mother to daughter for generations.

Colors are created using natural dyes from plants, earth, and spices, giving each carpet a unique vibrancy. Weeks, sometimes months, of work are needed for a single rug, making every piece truly one-of-a-kind.

When you bring an AzaLuna carpet into your home, you are not just decorating a space – you are honoring the hands, stories, and traditions of Moroccan women.
