How to Care for Your Moroccan Rug
Show your rug some love!
Vacuum regularly (without a beater bar / on low suction) to avoid pulling fibers. To freshen up, air it outside in gentle sunshine for a few hours. Avoid harsh chemicals; use mild soapy water (natural shampoo recommended) for spot cleaning.
For a deep clean (about every 1–2 years), we recommend a professional carpet cleaner. Ask them to spot test first.
Very Important: Always do a small spot test before wetting the whole rug — especially pale or faded pieces. Natural dyes can release when wet. If you see color transfer, use a professional cleaner to prevent dye bleeding.
DIY cleaning (if needed):
1. Fill a bucket with lukewarm water + mild soap (natural shampoo).
2. Gently scrub the rug with a soft, clean household broom.
3. Rinse with clean lukewarm water.
4. Brush out excess water and dry flat in the sun.
5. When mostly dry, hang over a railing/clothesline to finish.
Do not hang while fully wet.Remember: variations in color and small imperfections are part of the beauty of your handmade Moroccan rug.
